Most people have heard the old Chinese proverb that states “a picture is worth a thousand words.” In the case of Tarot, the images on the cards speak to us with an abundance of universal and esoteric wisdom.

In a pack of 78 cards there are 22 major arcana and 56 minor arcana. Arcana meaning secret knowledge. The major arcana reflect our value systems, psychological growth and spiritual growth. The minor arcana represent our everyday experience, aspects of personalities, behaviour patterns, feelings, interest and situations we periodically find ourselves.

Minor arcana cards are made up of 4 suits. Cups which represent our relationships, pentacles which reflects our work life and financial situation. Wands indicate what might be going energetically and what growth might be occurring. Lastly Swords represents our mind and how we feel emotionally.

By reflecting upon these cards, we can raise our level of consciousness and gain a deeper level of awareness within ourselves and the world around us.

Tarot is not magic, it will not tell you exactly what you need to do to move forward with your life, but what it does do is give you guidance and help to strengthen your intuition and ability to trust your own path.

“It’s said that the shuffling of the cards is the earth, and the pattering of the cards is the rain, and the beating of the cards is the wind, and the pointing of the cards is the fire. That’s of the four suits. But the Greater Trumps, it’s said, are the meaning of all process and the measure of the everlasting dance.”
