What makes a Somatic Psychotherapist?

Well, as well as using traditional talking therapies, I focus on you as a whole. After an extensive career as a yoga teacher I became more and more aware of just how connected our bodies and our minds really are. In short, our body is connected to our mind via small fascia that weave their way throughout our body. This fascia is connected to our nervous system, so when we feel our fight or flight mode activated during times of stress, not only does the mind respond, but the body does too. Have you noticed how when you feel stressed your heart rate rises and you feel your breath become more rapid in your chest? This is just one example that is very noticeable to us, but the body also reacts in more subtle ways to this too.

While working in a somatic way, I not only provide the space for you to process your thoughts, worries and examine your behaviour patterns, but we will also work together to release these blockages from not just your mind, but your body and your energy field too.

Using tools such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), CIT (Conscious Integration Technique), Energy Psychology, Hypnosis, Meditations, Breathwork, and Mindful Movement I am able to help guide you to a state of release. To a re-aligned nervous system and a place of calm. Back to the truest, most authentic version of yourself.
